Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a disease which causes the progressive deterioration of the macula, the part of your eye responsible for central and colour vision. AMD is the number one cause of vision loss in people over 50 in North America. It can affect your ability to recognize faces, drive, and read.

Genetic testing is recommended for individuals suffering with macular degeneration and their families.  We prescribe the recommended vitamins and use the Macular Pigment Optical Density device to measure the effectiveness of vitamin therapy. Low MPOD is a significant but modifiable risk factor for AMD. Once identified it can be monitored and corrected over time, enabling a proactive, preventative approach to AMD.

Conjunctivitis is caused by the inflammation of the conjunctiva – the mucous membrane that covers the white of the eye. Conjunctivitis can be caused by many different things, ranging from allergies, bacteria or viruses.
